Ballav Poudyel
Ballav is originally from Bhutan and resettled in the United States in 2008 under the refugee resettlement program. With over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, he currently serves as a Program Manager at Lao Family Community Development, Inc. (LFCD), where he oversees a variety of contracts funded by the Alameda County Social Services Agency, State, and Federal programs. These initiatives serve newly arrived immigrants, refugees, asylees, and individuals involved in programs like CalWORKs, General Assistance (GA), and CalFresh.
In addition to his role at LFCD, Ballav has been an active member of the East Bay Refugee & Immigrant Forum, serving on its Steering Committee for the past six years. His work in the nonprofit sector is driven by a deep passion for helping others, and he finds immense fulfillment in outreaching and finding innovative ways to support the diverse communities of the Bay Area.
Ballav’s personal and professional mission revolves around fostering emotional, mental, and financial stability for individuals and families in need. He is particularly committed to empowering local ethnic organizations, helping them promote and protect their cultural heritage while driving social innovations that lead to eco-social change.
In his free time, Ballav enjoys playing soccer and spending quality time with his family. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast who loves camping and hiking. Ballav resides in Oakland with his wife and two children, where they enjoy exploring the beauty of nature and creating lasting memories together.
