Client Story
In 2021, Abdul Qadir Sangar, a single father from Afghanistan, arrived in Elk Grove through the Afghan Humanitarian Parole Program. Separated from his family during the evacuation, he faced the challenge of starting over alone — without housing, community, or support.
LFCD helped him secure housing, enroll in ESL classes, and prepare for employment. With this support, Abdul moved into an apartment and was hired as a retail associate at Target, earning $19 per hour.
Today, he is stably housed, steadily employed, and working through LFCD’s family reunification program to bring his loved ones to safety.
“I never imagined I could start over alone. LFCD gave me the tools, encouragement, and support to build a new life here.”
Abdul Qadir Sangar
