Lao Family Community Development, Inc. (LFCD), headquartered at 2325 E. 12th Street in Oakland, CA, provides housing, employment, and supportive services to vulnerable populations throughout Alameda County and beyond. In partnership with government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations, LFCD has served diverse communities for over 40 years.
LFCD delivers culturally responsive and low-barrier services, including emergency shelter, interim and permanent housing, housing navigation, workforce development, financial education, and health and wellness programs. We serve individuals and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness — including those living in encampments, RVs, cars, or temporary shelters — as well as domestic violence survivors, refugees, immigrants, individuals with disabilities, young adults exiting foster care or incarceration, and other underserved populations.
Oakland CARE Campus: The Oakland CARE Campus is a cornerstone of LFCD’s commitment to housing and long-term self-sufficiency. This innovative 275-unit furnished studio apartment community provides safe, stable housing alongside wraparound support services.
LFCD acquired the property with $25.5 million in private financing and was honored with the Real Estate Deal of the Year Award by the San Francisco Business Times for this transformative project.
