Wathone Oo, currently served as Program Manager,  Family in January 2012 as Workforce Specialist in Sacramento, Ca. Her 13 years of tireless efforts supporting the immigrant and refugee community at large has allowed many to excel and to become financially independent. Her exhaustive work aided in the expansion of Lao Family employment and health care services programs. As for the Employment unit wherein newly arrived immigrants, under serve population and low income families are assisted with employment and to become self-sufficiency.  With Oo’s direction employment programs continues to both meet and exceed program related goals.

As a small business owner, Wathone Oo owns and operates a successful sushi businesses through the Los Rios Community College District (SCC, ARC, CRC and FLC), University of Davis and Sam’s Club. Her understanding of the challenges small business owners face in addition to the financial struggles as a result of competition make her an exceptional Program Manager for the Employment Program Unit. She is able to cultivate relationships with local small business employers as a result of her experiences and through this she is able to create job opportunities for her customers.

Originally from Burma/Myanmar, Wathone Oo is fluent in Burmese, Karen and English. Her educational endeavors led her to come to the U.S. During her study she encountered many disadvantaged individuals, many who possessed limited English and limited income. It is through these experiences that cemented her desire to work with the immigrant, refugee community, underserve and low income families.

 For the past 16 years, with her passion, she has been provided a social support to the Burmese community and she will continues to be an asset for the community and also for Lao Family.
