Jessica Cárdenas-Montañez

After attending UC Davis, Jessica knew she wanted to give back with her education. She began working in the non-profit sector serving survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Not long after she connected with Lao Family and became a Victim Advocate. In her role as a victim advocate, she developed a strong devotion towards clients in helping them establish self-sustainability and independence despite their victimization. She now serves as the Site Supervisor for the Victim Services Program. Jessica closely developed and now oversees the Casa Liberty program, a safe house for women and their children fleeing violent relationships. Jessica also oversees the Elder Abuse MDT hosted by Lao Family.

Jessica’s journey may have not been clear after graduation, but after working directly with community-based agencies and serving clients in healing and becoming self-sufficient, she definitely feels like she’s chosen the right path and is excited to have had Lao Family in her corner during her journey.
